Iran and the Spy

Iran caught another spy. This time it's not a vulture that the Muslim world has caught, nor pigeon, or shark, nor jellyfish, or squirrel (etc.)... No, now they caught a real live human being! (One has to wonder why Israel would use a human being when all the creatures of mother nature are just as willing to spy for them but) as INN reports:

Iran claims it has penetrated Israel's international espionage agency, the Mossad.
“After months of silent struggle, offensive, multi-layered and complicated operations and penetration into the depths of the Zionist regime's intelligence led to the uncovering of very important and sensitive information about Mossad spies and operations,” the Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced Monday in a statement.
And not only that, but the spy confessed on live TV!
Iranian state television broadcast the “confession”
The alleged Mossad operator said in his confession that he was flown to the Jewish State by a Persian-speaking Israeli. He was taken to Mossad headquarters, he said, claiming the campus was four kilometers long, surrounded by barbed wire fences and located between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
The information gleaned from the spy was so good...
The information was inaccurate.
And...
He also said he was taught how to place bombs in cars.
 Wow!

Mark Mandell Asks the Question I Asked a Month Ago

Mark Mandell (BBC) asks whether the sanctions are actually working on Iran.

Mark Mardell | 01:47 UK time, Tuesday, 21 September 2010
If it's not hurting, it's not working. But does the US government really think the economic sanctions against Iran are painful enough to make them abandon what the West believes is a quest for nuclear weapons?
President Obama is expected to use his speech to the United Nations on Thursday to stress that it's not America that has a quarrel with Iran, it is the whole international community. According to one senior administration official he'll make it clear, as he did last year at the same time, that "the door is open to engagement".
"The door is open to them having a better relationship with the United States and with the international community," the official said. "However, in order to walk through that door, Iran is going to have to demonstrate its commitment to show its peaceful intent around its nuclear program and to meet its obligations to the international community."
Honestly, can we get better officials next time?

Why isn't the main focus Iran?

Why are all the opinion columns on the Middle East/ Islam? I would think with all the military preparations that Iran is doing, that the fear of their nuclear capabilities should be at the forefront. Instead, we have columns on how Israel can make the doomed Peace Talks work, or we can read on how the West is becoming increasingly anti-Muslim.
Never mind the enemy at our door, who, at the very least, will be able to create nuclear weapons by the end of this year. Never mind the threats and war drills that the enemy is showing the world publicly, daring us to attack him. No, that's not important. What is important is how the doomed peace talks will fair, or whether Muslims in the US are under attack for fears that they may turn us into another Islamisized Western country. A place where free speech will have no place. Where non-Muslims and women are considered secondary citizens. No, do not fear the Muslim, instead watch the peace talks, it will distract you from the bad thoughts.
This society has a new ideology: the "there is nothing to fear" ideology. If you have a fear, we will do all in our power to silence it through our columns. Iran running war drills won't be mentioned. Neither will it's ability to create a nuclear bomb, that it has threatened  to use. Instead, let's talk about easier things, like the Peace Process or how the West is becoming increasingly anti-Muslim ("so what do you think about the mosque at ground zero?").

We need to make heard the voice, that as Americans, though we have just come out of a very tiring war, and are actually still occupied with another, (both of which I may point out are mainly Muslim) it is time to strike Iran, before it is ready to strike us.

(I must note: right after I wrote this post, I found an article that did bring up Iran and the fact that we should attack it, though it was mostly a side point. The title certainly didn't come close to mentioning it. You can read it here if you wish)

Iran calls reactor "a symbol of national resistance."

alhayat-j.com has a short piece on the Bushehr nuclear reactor. In this article we see how Iran really views this building and it doesn't sound so peaceful.
Salehi said despite all the pressures and difficulties and sanctions imposed by Western countries, the release of the Bushehr reactor continues to reflect the peaceful nuclear program of Iran. It is a symbol of the Iranian nation's resistance and determination to achieve its goals

A peaceful nuclear program that is a symbol of resistance. Ho hum.

Iran's unmanned bomber something to be scared of?

By NASSER KARIMI, Associated Press Writer – Sun Aug 22, 7:48 am ET
TEHRAN, Iran – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday inaugurated the country's first domestically built unmanned bomber aircraft, calling it an "ambassador of death" to Iran's enemies.
The 4-meter-long drone aircraft can carry up to four cruise missiles and will have a range of 620 miles (1,000 kilometers), according to a state TV report — not far enough to reach archenemy Israel.
"The jet, as well as being an ambassador of death for the enemies of humanity, has a main message of peace and friendship," said Ahmadinejad at the inauguration ceremony, which fell on the country's national day for its defense industries.
The goal of the aircraft, named Karrar or striker, is to "keep the enemy paralyzed in its bases," he said, adding that the aircraft is for deterrence and defensive purposes.
So Iran has an unmanned bomber and Ahmadinejad is advertising it across the world. Are they expecting to pair it with their nuclear bombs, or is this announcement more of a scare tactic designed to give America and Israel pause before they attack?
